Triple-A

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (2-1) lost to the Rochester Red Wings (0-2) 5-0 and 6-5

The RailRiders lost both games of a doubleheader with the Rochester Red Wings. They lost 5-0 in game one, scattering 4 hits in seven innings. Pitching for the RailRiders, Bruce Billings gave up 4 earned runs in 4 innings, but struck out six as well.

The RailRiders fell to 2-3 last night after errors failed the team’s offense in game two. The Red Wings were able to score two unearned runs to squeak out the 6-5 victory. Scranton’s offense was led by Zelous Wheeler, who already has 4 doubles on the year along with a .400 average. The RailRiders are back in action tomorrow against Rochester to finish the series.

Double-A

Trenton Thunder (2-2) beat the Portland Sea Dogs (2-2) 10-1

The Trenton Thunder exploded for 10 runs against the Portland Sea Dogs. None other than Gary Sanchez put the team on his shoulders Tuesday night, getting three hits in four at-bats with a walk and 3 RBI. He now has 8 RBI in just 5 games this season. Matt Tracy spun a gem on the other side of the diamond, giving up just one run in 5.1 innings. The Thunder look to continue their momentum Wednesday with one more game against Portland.

Single-A

Tampa Yankees (1-3) beat the Clearwater Threshers (1-3) 7-6

The Tampa Yankees got by the Clearwater Threshers today in spite of their sloppy defense. The 7-6 victory was all from Eric Jagielo, who went 2-for-5 with a homer and 3 RBI, and Peter O’Brien who went 3-for-4 with a solo shot of his own.

Manny Banuelos started and pitched 3 innings of shutout ball for the Yankees. Brett Gerritse earned the win in relief, pitching 4 innings with 4 strikeouts and 1 earned run.  Tomorrow the Yankees play the Threshers one more time.

Charleston RiverDogs (2-2) beat the Greenville Drive (2-2) 10-1

The Charleston Riverdogs wanted to make sure Trenton wasn’t alone in a 10-1 victory. The RiverDogs demolished the Drive by the same score, thanks to Brandon Thomas. Thomas went 3-for-5 with a home run and 4 RBI. Starting pitcher Caleb Smith got the win, throwing 5 innings of 1-hit ball with 5 strikeouts. Tomorrow the RiverDogs will see Greenville again.
