As the New York Yankees are just one week from pitchers and catchers reporting to Tampa for Spring Training, there is still plenty of news surrounding the Bronx Bombers. The media contingent continues to follow Derek Jeter around as he makes his comeback from missing most of last year due to an ankle injury. As for any potential pickups, closer Fernando Rodney is off the market as he signed a two-year deal to close games for the Seattle Mariners. Of course, we can’t forget the sad news on Thursday of the passing of former Pirates’ outfielder and legendary Mets’ broadcaster, Ralph Kiner. Our thoughts and prayers here at Yanks Go Yard are with the Kiner family.
On this episode of the YGY Radio Show, I was joined by co-editor Jason Evans to talk about these topics and much more as we get set for the Spring Training Preview Show that will take place next Thursday night at 11:00 PM ET. Here are the topics that we discussed on the show:
- Tribute to Ralph Kiner
- Reaction to Rodney going to the Mariners
- Who are some bullpen options the Yankees could look at behind David Robertson?
- Interest in Emilio Bonifacio
- The latest on the Stephen Drew front.
- Derek Jeter working out in Tampa
- Who could win the #5 spot if Michael Pineda gets hurt/falters?
- A.J Burnett Rumors
- Yankee Yell Topics: Eduardo Nunez and the latest PECOTA projections.
