Did you get invited to dinner with Jay-Z like the Mets did last night? Yeah me either. It doesn’t seem like the Yankees are going to wait around for their dinner invite. Let’s delve into news and notes for today.

Waiting for Cano: It appears the Yankees agree with Gavin’s take on the Cano situation yesterday. The Yankees will not wait around for Robinson Cano to shop in free agency for other things they need like Brian McCann, Carlos Beltran et al.

"“We’re not waiting around,” Levine said. “If guys start to come off the board, we’re going to sign them, which will affect the amount of money we have left for other players including him.”"

A-Rod: Your obligatory Alex Rodriguez update. A-Rod didn’t testify today and likely won’t as they continue to present their case. It looks like it could go into next week. After that, no one knows how long it will take to make a decision.

Raul’s cool again?: No it’s not a flashback to the 2012 off-season. The Yankees are interested in bringing back Raul Ibanez to be their DH against right handed pitching. Ibanez had a .242/.306/.487 line with 29 homers and 65 RBI and will turn 42 in June.

International Free Agents: MLB and NPB have begun negotiations again on the new posting system. Once it’s done, bidding on Masahiro Tanaka can begin. Two Cubans have recently defected that the Yankees could have their eye on in pitcher Raicel Iglesias and shortstop Erisbel Barbaro Arruebarruena. Iglesias has residency in Mexico and Arruebarruena has set up residency in Haiti. Both will need to be cleared by the government and MLB before they are eligible for free agency and won’t count towards the international pool.
