Yanks Go Yard is looking for a Social Media Coordinator

Do you love the New York Yankees? Do you have a smart phone or tablet in your hands at all times, ready to tweet or update your Facebook status especially where it concerns the Yankees? Well, Yanks Go Yard may have an opportunity for you to do the same for our site.

We’re looking for an individual to take over the responsibilities of the Yanks Go Yard Twitter and Facebook accounts. The right candidate will have the ability to engage Yankees fans and baseball fans alike in conversation and grow our following through both social media outlets. The person who takes on the role will be required to tweet and update the site’s Facebook status with quick bits about the Yankees on a daily basis. Below are some bullets of tasks we expect the social media coordinator to handle for us.

  • Write a minimum of 5 tweets per day on average which are not links or RTs.
  • Must be able to reply and continue subsequent conversations.
  • Write open ended tweets to ignite conversations with readers.
  • Get involved in discussions on Twitter with beat writers, national personalities and players/team personnel.
  • Re-tweet team news/rumors/player commentary.
  • Write a minimum of two interactive Facebook posts per day on average about daily team news/events.
  • Must be able to reply and continue subsequent conversations.
  • Write open ended updates to ignite conversations with readers.
  • Supply links to previously written articles which hold relevance at a later date on both Twitter and Facebook.
  • Administer polls on Facebook.
  • Provide lead-ins to upcoming articles.
  • Search Twitter accounts and Facebook accounts of Yankees fans for potential followers and “likes.”
  • Live tweeting of games is not required but would be beneficial to the site.
  • The social media coordinator will also be able to post on the Yanks Go Yard site should they choose to.

If you are interested please send us 5 sample tweets (140 characters or less of course) and two Facebook status comments (no longer than 420 characters) about anything you’d like pertaining to the Yankees. Please email your samples using the subject line, Yanks Go Yard Social Media Coordinator to the following address, mlb.division@fansided.com.

Please note, this is a non-paying position similar to our staff writer roles.
