Yanks Go Yard Selects the Yankees’ Regular Season Awards

Now that the regular season is over, it’s time to dish out some awards for some of the better and well…not so great performers from this year’s New York Yankees.
We here at Yanks Go Yard voted for who we thought was deserving of each category. Some decisions were unanimous, some were decided by one vote and some ended up in ties. We Yankee fans are proud of our Bronx Bombers and hope they’ll win the World Series in a few weeks. The Yankees ended the 2012 regular season at 95-67, good for first in the AL East and the best record in the American League. Anyway, let’s get on with the awards. Here are the categories and the winners for each:

Most of the votes were pretty unanimous, especially when it came to Best Reliever, Worst Defensive Player and Most Disappointing Performance, but overall, it’s about what I expected. Perhaps the winners that stick out in my mind are Jeter and Kuroda who won Most Surprising Performance. Not a lot of people expected Jeter to have the kind of monster year he did and a lot of people were skeptical about Kuroda’s transition from the NL to AL. Both players certainly surprised us, but I definitely didn’t see a tie in that race. Yet again, great job to our Yankees and here’s hoping we can go the distance to the World Series.
