Tigers-Yankees Game 5 ALDS Podcast Preview: Win or Go Home

facebooktwitterreddit

Well, folks, tonight is the night! Game 5 of the ALDS starts at 8:07 EST between the Detroit Tigers and the New York Yankees. The pitching matchup is identical to the resumption of the first game. Doug Fister takes the bump for the Tigers and Ivan Nova goes for the Bombers. Both pitchers did well in that game, but the Yankees eventually got Fister into a jam in the 6th inning that cost Detroit the ball game.

The Yankees were able to get a huge performance on the mound from A.J Burnett and from the glove of Curtis Granderson. Tonight, the momentum and all the pressure is on the Yankees and their offense to continue from their ten run performance in Game 4. Detroit will come out with a nothing to lose mentality, which is why its important to be aggressive early in the game. I had the Yankees in 5 games coming into the series, but who do I pick tonight? You have to listen to find out!

Here is what I talk about on the podcast:

  • Recapping Game 4
  • Pitching Breakdown of Game 5
  • Nova’s unbeaten stretch
  • fastball has to sink in the zone early
  • Keep counts low, watch Detroit power lefties
  • Do I use Sabathia?
  • Fister’s ability to handle pressure
  • Yankees have to see where the ump’s zone is
  • lack of walks from Fister
  • Is it right not to use Verlander?
  • Don Kelly at third base
  • Prediction!

Tigers-Yankees Game 5 Podcast Preview

Hopefully, this is not the last preview podcast we do this season! If it is, we will do a podcast this weekend on the burning questions facing the Yankees this offseason. But, if the Bombers win, we will be back here Saturday for Game 1. If you have a question on these topics, follow me on Twitter: @arth65456
