600

After closing out tonight’s 3-2 victory over the Mariners, Mariano Rivera became the second member of the 600 save club. That does not include His 42 postseason saves.

I don’t know what’s more mind boggling: the fact that He has 600 saves or the fact that AJ Burnett threw a great game. Regardless, congrats to You Mo; You are certainly the greatest of all time and the Yankees will never be the same without You.

"First of all, I have to thank God, my wife and my kids. God gave (the cutter) to me. Thank God he gave it to me.(600) is a great number, don’t get me wrong, but I don’t look for those things."

Not only is He the greatest ever, He’s also humble.

My favorite part was when Ichiro was caught stealing for the final out and Martin and Jeter did fistpumps and were celebrating, and Mo just arose from His crouch like a boss. Imagine if Valverde (or K-Rod for that matter) was in His shoes? It’d be a mockery.

Fun fact: Jeter was a part of the final out for Mo’s first save in 1996 and his 600th.

Another fun fact: this.
