Yanks game uglier than Rocky Dennis

The less said about Tuesday’s debacle the better. I do have some questions for Girardi though.

  • Why did he take CC out after the seventh when he had retired 17 batters in a row? There’s no reason for that. Granted he was at 104 pitches, but that’s nothing for CC. The big guy had given up just two hits and a walk all night, why try to fix something that’s not broken?
  • Staked to a 4-0 lead against an impotent offense, why use Soriano*? He just pitched last night and the team had a big lead. Why not bring in D-Rob, who hadn’t pitched since Saturday, or someone else who could use work? The three walks from So were an abomination.
  • Why bring in Mo for the ninth? Especially in a tie game. He has now pitched in four of the six games this year, including two in a row and three in five days. The guy is friggin’ 41 years old. Girardi knows this is April, right?

*BTW, apparently Soriano left the stadium before talking to the media after the game. The beat writers were all bitching about it on twitter. That’s not a wise move; spurn the NY media and they’ll fuck your shit up. If he just spoke after the game his performance wouldn’t be a big deal, now it’s going to be a bigger story.

As much as I want to blame the bullpen for imploding, which would be totally justified, the offense didn’t do too much either. They didn’t score after the second inning, and the 5-9 batters — not including Andruw Jones’ solo homer — went 0-for-18 with five strikeouts and one walk.

Ugly, ugly loss. What can you do about it? The beauty of baseball is that they’ll play again tomorrow. They’ll send Freddy Garcia to the mound against our old friend Carl Pavano. Game time at 7:05. I’ll be there in section 413 looking to go 3-0 on the year, so you can guarantee a Yankee victory.

LET’S GO YANKS!!!!
