Dustin Moseley gets first start since 4/17/09

In lieu of an injured Andy (Can I) Pettitte, Dustin Moseley will get the nod tonight in the finale of a four-game set with the Indians. His numbers aren’t great against the Indians, but he is 3-0 with a 4.35 ERA in five games — three starts. He has yielded 26 hits in 20 innings with 10 earned runs, 14 strikeouts and four walks for a 1.452 WHIP lifetime against Cleveland — all with the Halos. However, he has never pitched at Progressive Field.

In four appearances this season he’s had two clunkers to go with two pretty good outings, the latest being the Royals game last Saturday when he threw 4 2/3 innings in relief of an ineffective Sergio Mitre. On that hot July day, he gave up just one hit with a walk and a strikeout while throwing 53 pitches — 35 for strikes. Not too shabby.

I’m not expecting much from him tonight, but I think he can get the job done. If I was a gambling man, I would bet on around seven innings (90-95 pitches), nine hits, four earned runs and three strikeouts to five walks…Yanks prevail 8-6.

Moseley:

"Man, Imma go out there and attack the zone, keep the ball down and see where it leads me. It’s tough to put expectations…I just gotta go out there and make pitches; I can’t look past that…I just see (the start) as an opportunity to help this team in different ways. I said all along, I’m happy to do whatever they call upon me to do. But I think if I go out there and do what I’m capable of doing I can (be an innings eater). I think I’ve got the endurance to eat up a  lot of innings."

Dusty will be going against Mitch Talbot.

LET’S GO YANKS!!!!
