Javy Vazquez in the role of stopper

Javy Vazquez will be on the mound Tuesday against the Tigers trying to halt the Yanks’ two-game slide and a personal skid that saw him get his start pushed back twice. However, he might have his start pushed back yet again as it is pouring in Detroit right now. Anyway, here are some quotes from Javy’s media session on Monday:

"I’m looking forward to it…it seems a long time since I last pitched. I’m looking forward to it."
"I feel good throwing a couple of bullpens. I worked on stuff I need to work on. Both of them were longer; usually my bullpens are nice and easy, these I pushed it a little bit."
"I think when you struggle your confidence goes down, when your doing good your confidence is way up. I feel good about (Tuesday’s start). My arm feels good."
"I’ve been working on (my mechanics) since I’ve been here, but I got to do it in the game. I just need to pitch well on the road or at home."
"I don’t know how many days it’s been, it feels like a month without throwing. I’m looking forward (to Tuesday’s start) and hopefully I can start getting in a groove."

In other news: the Yanks made a move today, calling up 1B/DH Juan Miranda from SWB. No word yet on who will get sent down, but Chad Jennings of LoHud guesses it might be Kevin Russo or Boone Logan that gets the boot (personally, I’m rooting for Boone Logan to get sent down). Joel Sherman writes that, if the game isn’t rained out, Miranda could get the start at DH on Tuesday.
