Home run Javy’s next start has been pushed back due to a fortuitous off day on Thursday. Instead of getting lit up in Fenway on Friday night, he’ll go against the Tigers the following Monday. “I think he could use a little time to catch his breath,” Girardi said to reporters today.
Phil Hughes will start in his place on Friday.
Girardi said that he doesn’t feel Javy’s struggles are injury-related, but rather that he’s having some mechanical issues. “I believe he’s healthy,” Girardi said of his fourth starter. Hopefully Javy and Eiland get this shit straightened out and Javy can clear his good name with some solid pitching.
I think pushing Javy’s next start back is the right move. Not only will it give him time to work on his mechanics, but also a(nother) bad outing during The Greatest Rivalry In Sports could mess up his head. Although you could make the argument that pushing one of his starts back could mess up his head.

I guess we can put the A-Rod injury rumors to bed because he is back in the lineup and playing third base for tonight’s game against the O’s. Unfortunately, Grandy will still be out for at least a month.
