Prior to Tuesday’s home opener against the Angels (their 2009 ALCS opponent), the Yanks will receive their World Series rings. Festivities are set to begin at 12:30, so if you have tickets (I hate you) try to get there early.
Helping to pass out the rings will be Yankee greats Yogi Berra and Whitey Ford with trainer Gene Monahan, who is battling illness, present to get his ring. No stranger to rings himself, Bernie Williams will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
It hasn’t been decided if Matsui will come out of the Halos dugout to get his ring, that might be a little awkward…but not as awkward as it will be for Granderson and Nick The Stick, who have to watch their teammates get their bling. Can you imagine how weird it will be in the Yanks clubhouse after the game with all the players trying them on and those two (among others) just watching? You know A-Rod is going to be a pompous ass and waving his ring around, that can’t be good for the newcomers’ morale.
The Yanks are 4-2 on the year after taking series from their two biggest division rivals and arguably the two best teams in the AL. WE CAN BUILD ON THIS. Pettitte will be on the hill going against Ervin Santana, and we can only hope this home opener goes a lot smoother than last year’s.

Even after given a day to think about it, Joe Girardi still maintains he would have taken CC out in the eighth inning regardless if he had a no-no going. I can see where he is coming from, with your ace having a high pitch count (111 pitches) early in the season, but how can you do that to a pitcher? CC is no stranger to being overworked, and I think it would pain him dearly to be removed with a chance to notch his first no-hitter. Another 15-20 pitches at the most wouldn’t hurt the 300-pound workhorse.

CC courting CC? Sabathia has been rumored to be recruiting good friend (who knew?) Carl Crawford to come to the Yankees when the outfielder hits free agency this offseason. For what it’s worth, CC is also good friends with another free agent-to-be, pitcher Cliff Lee. When asked about the possibilities of the Yanks acquiring both top-notch players, CC responded:
"Who knows? Who ever thought Me, Tex and AJ would show up in the same year, too?"
I know that’s a long shot, especially with all the current Yankees’ contracts that expire following 2010, but can you imagine if they get both of those players? WOW.
