The Yankees, like nearly all of major league baseball at the moment, appear to be just awakening from the holiday hibernation period.
And although Brian Cashman reiterated yesterday that the Yankees will not be doing anything rash in terms of making significant changes to their roster until Spring Training gets underway, there’s always little tidbits of new things that pop up about the team. Here’s a few of them that have surfaced over the past few days.
Yankees Yogi Berra Remembered In An Iconic Photo
Yesterday was National Spaghetti Day. Who knew? As one of the Yankees of Italian descent, a photo of Yogi always resurfaces that brings back memories of one of the most popular players to don the pinstripes.
Say It Ain’t So, Clint
Apparently, Clint Frazier, newly acquired from the Indians in the Andrew Miller deal, has a thing with hair. And not just his hair, also Bryce Harper’s hair. Of all the role models to pick, Clint?…..but anyway, it might be a good time to remind him that he’s now a member of the New York Yankees. Because as we can recall, even Don Mattingly lost his battle with the team and eventually took a seat on the bench, rather than get his hair cut.
Yankees Alex Rodriguez Remaining In The Front Office
It was always a tempting idea to think that Alex Rodriguez would return as an active player to make a try for those four home runs that would make him a member of the 700 Club. But it’s not to be as the New York Daily News is reporting that A-Rod has made the decision, and is actually comfortable in his new role. In fact, he’s been to the Yankees training complex several times to work with and mentor some of the younger players, including the aforementioned Clint Frazier. Much better than where we were at this time last year with the ongoing A-Rod saga, huh?

Want To Meet Derek Jeter? Here’s How You Do It
It’s really quite simple. All you have to do is compliment his wife. NJ.com is reporting that Jeter and his wife Hannah were eating dinner at a restaurant near their home in Tampa when a fellow diner paid her a compliment. Jeter was so impressed that he picked up the tab for the unknowing man. In the same story, Jeter is quoted as saying, “Most beautiful in the world,” a source overheard Jeter reply. “She is the best decision I have ever made.” Aw, isn’t that nice?
Brett Gardner Rumors Surface Again
Once again, Brett Gardner’s name has surfaced in trade rumors being circulated. But the rumors are coming from Toronto, not from New York. Apparently, the Blue Jays include Gardner as a fallback player if things don’t work out with Jose Bautista. But the fact is that they should have had a plan months ago to replace not only Bautista, but Juan Encarnacion as well. Yankees fans can only hope they never get things figured out for the 2017 season.
