On July 12th at Petco Park in San Diego, the Yankees will be represented by the absolute strength of this year’s team, Dellin Betances, Andrew Miller, and Carlos Beltran.

The unveiling of this year’s All-Star teams was agonizing to watch for a few different reasons. First, there was Karl Ravech berating the likes of Anthony Rizzo and Kris Bryant with one ridiculous question after the other.

Second, ESPN managed to drag out the unveiling of the rosters for an entire hour! Come on, 99% of the country already knew the Chicago Cubs were going to dominate the National League infield. By the way, NL Rookie of the Year favorite Corey Seager should be starting at shortstop over Addison Russell, in addition, to Daniel Murphy over Ben Zobrist at second. Thanks a lot, fan vote!

Regardless, the third and final reason I feared for the conclusion of the rosters was because I honestly didn’t know how many New York Yankees would be named to the American League team. Major League rules guaranteed one representative from the Bronx, but who would it be?

How about two-thirds of the back of the bullpen. Seventh inning stopper Dellin Betances and his 74 strikeouts in 41 innings will join setup man Andrew Miller and his absolute stellar 1.47 ERA, and 66 K’s in only 36 innings pitched. How is Miller even being mentioned in trade rumors again?

It’s easy to see why the aforementioned relief pitchers were awarded the honor of representing their club at the mid-season classic. But would Carlos Beltran join the fray? Yes, yes he would. The 39-year-old soon to be free agent outfielder/DH is having another one of his famous contract year explosions, batting .296 with 19 home runs (seventh most in the AL) and 53 RBI.

For those of you hoping that other Yankees like Didi Gregorius, Brian McCann, Masahiro Tanaka, CC Sabathia or Aroldis Chapman will be added to AL team, there may still be hope. While the five men just listed aren’t exactly setting the world on fire, there is bound to be a few previously selected players who are unavailable to play due to pitching on the Sunday prior to the All-Star game, or one’s that are nursing an injury, a la Wade Davis being placed on the 15-day DL with a forearm strain.

As for me, I’ll take the three Yankees voted in as a win and just be glad that hour of Karl Ravech finally came to an end.
