On last night’s episode of the Yanks Go Yard Radio Show, we spent the bulk of the show giving a preview of the New York Yankees’ offseason. It is an offseason where the New York Yankees don’t expect to lose any big time players via free agency with New York’s only free agents being Stephen Drew, Chris Young, and Chris Capuano.
To help us go more in-depth with the Yankees’ offseason, I had the privilege of interviewing Mark Polishuk, who is one of the writers over at MLB Trade Rumors. Mark was the writer who wrote the Yankees’ offseason outlook column, which gives a breakdown of New York’s contracts and what the team’s needs are that they should address in the offseason.

Before Mark and I talked about the Yankees’ offseason plans, we talked about how New York’s season was a success despite losing in the Wild Card Game to the Houston Astros. Our first position we looked at was second base and who would be the best fit for the Bronx Bombers between Ben Zobrist, Howie Kendrick, and Daniel Murphy? Plus, we take a closer look at what kind of contract the Mets’ second baseman could get this winter.
The next position we focused on was the starting rotation. After not spending big money on Jon Lester, James Shields, and Max Scherzer last winter, will the Yankees offer a lucrative contract to Johnny Cueto, David Price, or Zack Greinke this year? Plus, Mark and I talk about whether or not there is a realistic chance the Yankees could trade for Washington Nationals’ pitcher, Stephen Strasburg.
The final position we talked about was the outfield. The Yankees appeared to be locked into an outfield of Jacoby Ellsbury, Brett Gardner, and Carlos Beltran for 2016. But, could the team have interest in Jason Heyward this winter and if New York were to sign Heyward, would that mean that the organization would trade Brett Gardner?
After talking about the Yankees’ offseason, Mark and I gave our takeaways from the first two games of the World Series between the Kansas City Royals and the New York Mets. With Game 3 taking place tonight at Citi Field (Noah Syndergaard vs. Yordano Ventura), do the Mets still have a chance to get back in this series and how have the Royals been able to take a commanding 2-0 series lead?
