Anyone who is going on vacation via plane knows to arrive early. Scratch that, make that everyone who isn’t named CC Sabathia. Port Authority Police responded to an irate Sabathia who was refused admission to his flight from Newark Airport to Jamaica. An unnamed spokesperson said “Sabathia started freaking out.” TMZ Sports was the first to report the scene and has become popular following their Ray Rice coverage.

A spokesperson for the Port Authority told NJ Advance Media on Sunday that they responded to a 12-person dispute in terminal C. The United Airlines employees apparently told Sabathia and his group, who arrived at 6:45 AM for their 7:00 AM flight, that they did not have enough time to admit them. So we learned that Sabathia’s fastball isn’t the only thing moving slower these days.

Despite the scene and public meltdown by Sabathia and crew, no charges were filed. The group was booked for a later flight and the problem was addressed. This is an uncharacteristic public meltdown for Sabathia, who has done a superb job handling the harsh lights of New York Media. He may want to continue avoiding the lime light and focus on rehabbing his knee in preparation for 2015.
