Yankees’ MiLB Roundup for July 30th: Staten Island Earns A Come From Behind Victory

It wasn’t one of the best days in Baby Bomber land, as they posted a 2-4 record on the night. Here are the recaps.

TRIPLE-A

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (53-58) lose to Gwinnett Braves (50-61) 3-1

Scranton was not able to get the bats going, as it all came down to a pitchers duel. Matt Tracy took the loss for the RailRiders, as he went six innings, and gave up two runs on eight hits. Rob Segedin had the only RBI, as he went 1-for-4 on the night. The RailRiders are hoping to avoid a sweep, as they will play the final game of the series at 7:05 PM. Bruce Billings will get the start, as he comes into the game with a 4-5 record and 5.35 ERA.

Trenton Thunder (53-59) lose to New Britain Rock Cats (53-56) 3-2

The Thunder lose a nail biter, as they drop the final game of the series. Dan Camarena pitched a good game, as he went six innings, giving up just one run on five hits. Mike Gonzalez had a good night at the dish, as he went 2-for-4, and drove in one of the two runs. Trenton will begin a series with the Portland Sea Dogs at 6:00 PM. The starting pitcher for the Thunder has yet to be announced.

High-A

Tampa Yankees (53-56) lose to Charlotte Stone Crabs (49-57) 9-4

Tampa could not figure out their pitching woes, as they drop the game against Charlotte. Brett Gerritse took a harsh loss, as he lasted just three innings, giving up seven runs on 12 hits. Trent Garrison was an offensive star, as he went 1-for-4, and had 2 RBI. The Yankees are looking to redeem themselves, as they face off against Charlotte again for the final game of the series at 6:30 PM. Miguel Sulbaran will get the start for Tampa, coming in with a 2-1 record and 2.76 ERA.

Charleston RiverDogs (53-55) had an off day.

The RiverDogs had an off day, and were able to rest and prepare themselves for their upcoming series against Hagerstown Suns. Chaz Hebert will get the start for Charleston, posting a 1-2 record and 3.05 ERA. Lucas Giolito will get the start for Hagerstown, with an impressive 6-2 record and 2.34 ERA. First pitch is set for 7:05 PM.

Short-Season

Staten Island Yankees (23-23) defeat the Lowell Spinners (19-27) 5-4

It was an exciting finish for Staten Island, as they were able to come from behind and defeat the Spinners. 2012 first round pick Ty Hensley made his debut, as he went 2.2 innings, giving up two runs on two hits. Ty McFarland yet again shined at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one RBI. The Yankees will continue its series with Lowell, with the first pitch at 7:00 PM. Sean Carley will get the start, coming in with a record of 0-1 and an ugly 9.82 ERA.
