With the New York Yankees’ recent homestand coming to a conclusion, the Bombers can feel good about their start after the All-Star break. The Yankees went 7-3, and realistically, should’ve finished the 10-games at 9-1, but sloppy play, and mental errors cost the Yankees two crucial games on Saturday and Sunday to the division-rival Toronto Blue Jays.

On the upside, newly acquired third baseman Chase Headley, has been just as good as advertised, recording 8 hits since coming to the team last Tuesday, hitting his first bomb in pinstripes in the Blue Jays’ series finale yesterday. He’s also made several solid plays at the hot corner. The trade early on, appears to have solved the Yankees’ issues at third base for the remainder of the season. The July 31st non-waiver trading deadline is on Thursday, but before any more moves are made, we have to take a look at the three-game set that is slated to begin tonight in Arlington, as the Yankees play the Rangers for the second time in a week’s time. The Yankees took three of four from the visiting Texas team, including rain-shortened victory over Yu Darvish.
