The baseball gods giveth and the baseball gods taketh away. Tonight, they gave one to the Yankees. You remember before the All-Star break when the Yankees lost in Baltimore on a rainy Sunday night? Well, the Yankees just got one back thanks to rain as the game was called in five innings as the Yankees earn a 2-1 win.

All the action came in the third. Leonys Martin and Chris Gimenez hit back to back singles off David Phelps. Rougned Odor grounded into a double play, but Martin scored to make it 1-0.

The Yanks would come back in the bottom half off Rangers’ ace Yu Darvish. Francisco Cervelli led off with a double and moved over to third on a groundout. Darvish twitched on the mound and was called for balk which brought home Cervelli. Brett Gardner then followed with his 10th homer of the year and second in seven at-bats against Darvish.

The game was called for good in the bottom of the fifth due to rain.

The conclusion of the series is tomorrow afternoon at 1:05. Colby Lewis will take on Brandon McCarthy.
