Yankees Hope Pineda Will Be Back Sooner Rather Than Later

Yankees’ injured starting pitcher Michael Pineda has already started the second faze of his rehab by throwing bullpen sessions.  The Yanks are excited about the progress Pineda is making, but with all the injuries to this rotation the Yankees are going to be forced to go to the trade market to aquire a quality starting pitcher Which would obviously take up one spot in the rotation. With Ivan Nova and CC Sabathia possibly being gone for the season the Yankees will be happy to have the very talented Pineda back in the rotation.

“We all know what he is capable of when healthy…He has gone from throwing on flat ground to bullpens,” general manager Brian Cashman said Tuesday. “That leads to batting practice and [minor league] rehab games,’’.

Although the Yankees are expecting Pineda back by mid-August, they are hoping that it won’t take much longer than that, which means no setbacks! The Yankees currently trail the Orioles by 5 games in the AL East, so if Pineda takes even a little longer than expected it could be too late, as the Yanks could already be out of the playoff picture.
