Yankees’ MiLB Roundup for July 13th: Pitching Was the Key

It was a good day for the Baby Bombers, as they went 4-1 today. Here are the recaps.

TRIPLE-A

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (46-51) were postponed.

The final game of the series between the RailRiders and the Rochester Red Wings was postponed due to the weather. The team will have a couple days off before a fun all-star game will take place between the PCL All-Stars and INT All-Stars. The starting pitchers are to be announced, but first pitch is Wednesday at 7:00 PM.

DOULBE-A

Trenton Thunder (44-52) defeat the Akron RubberDucks (55-41) 5-1

The Thunder received some great pitching in the contest, and was able to come out on top. Starting pitcher Jaron Long pitched a gem, as he went 6.1 innings, and only gave up one run on six hits. Rob Segedin had a good day at the dish, as he went 3-for-4 with a double. Trenton will finish up its series with Akron at 12:05 PM. Matt Tracy will get the start for the Thunder, as he comes in with an impressive 8-2 record and 3.28 ERA.

High-A

Tampa Yankees (45-48) defeat the Bradenton Marauders (49-42) 4-2

Tampa won a close game, as pitching was the key factor in the game between the two teams. Cesar Vargas got the win, as he threw two innings of shut out ball. Cito Culver went 2-for-4, and had two RBI. The Yankees will wrap up their series with Brandenton, as the first pitch is scheduled for 7:00 PM. Miguel Sulbaran will get the start for Tampa, as he enters the game with a 1-1 record and 2.36 ERA.

Low-A

Charleston RiverDogs (43-51) defeat the Savannah Sand Gnats (60-30) 5-0

The RiverDogs were able to blank the Sand Gnats, and pitching is yet again what did the trick. The dogs got a great performance out of Caleb Smith, as he went six innings, and gave up no runs with just one hit allowed. Mark Payton contributed to the offense, as he went 3-for-5 and had a double with two RBI. The RiverDogs have an off day, and will resume play on Tuesday against the Lexington Legends at 7:05 PM.

Short-Season

Staten Island Yankees (15-14) were suspended.

The Yankees were suspended after three innings of play due to rain. The game will resume today at 12:00 PM. The score is still 0-0, and they will start the game off with the top of the fourth. Jordan Cote will pick up the pitching for Staten Island, and hopes to keep the zeros off of the scoreboard.
