The Yankees are looking to finally get back in the win column, as they will turn to their ace Masahiro Tanaka, to snap the five-game losing streak. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 PM.

Tanaka will get the start for the Yankees to kick off this four-game set. In his last start, Tanaka pitched a brilliant complete game, but lacked run support. The difference in that game, was when he served a go-ahead home run to Mike Napoli in the 9th inning. Tanaka has lost his last two outings, and is hoping he can gain another victory to add on to his outstanding record.

Former Yankee Phil Hughes will be handed the ball for the Minnesota Twins. Hughes comes into the game with an impressive 8-4 record and 3.58 ERA. In his last start, he went 7 2/3 innings against the Rangers, and gave up five runs on 11 hits. He actually pitched a great game when he faced the Yankees a few weeks ago, and the Yankees are looking for revenge.

Game Notes…

Brett Gardner has been hitting the ball extremely well, and is looking to continue his hot streak. He has now raised his average to .283, and hit his seventh home run of the season in yesterday’s game against starting pitcher Jake Odorizzi. He has done a great job in the lead off spot.

Jorge Polanco and the familiar Eduardo Nunez both are producing for the Twins, as they both rest at averages about .300. Yankees pitchers should keep an eye on these players, as they both know how to hit and have great speed on the bases.
