It was a tough day on the farm for the Yankees’ Minor Leaguers. The four Yankees affiliates failed to get a win Sunday.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (31-31) lose to Toledo Mud Hens (30-34) 5-4
Zelous Wheeler‘s big day at the plate was not enough for the RailRiders. Wheeler doubled and homered, while driving in three. Zach Nuding started and allowed three runs in four innings. Joel De La Cruz makes the start for SWB on Monday.
Trenton Thunder (33-31) lose to Altoona Curve (24-38) 9-7
The Thunder blew a 6-2 lead, by allowing Altoona to score six times in the seventh inning. Taylor Dugas doubled and drove in three for Trenton. Manny Banuelos threw fifty pitches in three innings and left the game trailing 2-0. The Thunder have an off day Monday.
Tampa Yankees (30-33) lose to Brevard County Manatees (32-29) 5-2
It was an all-around bad day for Tampa as an anemic offense, and poor starting pitching doomed the Yankees. The offense collected just six hits. Dante Bichette, Jr. picked up a hit and scored a run. Conner Kedrick allowed five runs, on nine hits, in four innings of work. The Yankees have not announced Monday’s starter.
Charleston RiverDogs (28-35) lose to Savannah Sand Gnats (41-19) 11-6
The Sand Gnats struck early and often, and despite a late rally, Charleston could not overcome it. Rookie Davis started and went 4 2/3 innings, allowing three runs. Chaz Hebert came in for three innings, and got destroyed, giving up eight runs. Jackson Valera and Kale Sumner each had two RBI for Charleston. Luis Severino takes his 2.88 ERA into Monday’s start.
