1. Off Day- After Saturday’s game against the Marlins was cancelled, the Yankees will rest until April Fool’s Day, when the Yanks will begin the 2014 season against the Houston Astros. The ‘Stros moved to the AL West last year, making this Opening Day a former interleague matchup, too.

2. Cuts Finalized- At this point, most of the roster spots are locked in. Some players punched their tickets to the Bronx after amazing springs (Yangervis Solarte, Dean Anna), and others left Florida crestfallen (Eduardo Nunez was the largest surprise).

3. C.C. Prepares For His 11th Opening Day- Sabathia will pitch his sixth consecutive Opening Day with the Yankees, tying Lefty Gomez in Yankees annals. If he starts next year, he will share the record with Whitey Ford (Chairman of the Board), Ron Guidry (Louisiana Lightning), and Mel Stottlemyre (Mel Stottlemyre Sr.).

4. Michael Pineda Returns- After winning the fifth, and last, starting spot in the rotation, Pineda finally spends time on the active Yankees roster. Pineda was traded from the Seattle Mariners for Jesus Montero and Hector Noesi back in 2011. Since then, Montero has 22 home runs and 175 hits, while Noesi sports a win-loss record of 4-15…and those are your first Bomber Bites of the new week for March 31st!
