All the good vibes and feelings from last night’s win went away quite early on today. Phil Hughes is now 4-11 and put the Yankees behind the eight ball again, as the Tigers got revenge for last night’s loss, winning this afternoon 9-3.

Austin Jackson led off the game with a triple and scored on Torii Hunter‘s sac fly. In the third, Miguel Cabrera does what Miguel Cabrera does. Cabrera hit his 35th homer of the year to make it 2-0. The hits kept on coming.

In the fifth, Jackson hit his ninth homer of the year. Hunter singled and knocked Hughes out of the game. Preston Claiborne came in and didn’t put out the fire. Cabrera followed with a single. Two batters later, Victor Martinez doubled in a run. Don Kelly brought home two with a single.

The Yanks got on the board in the bottom half. Eduardo Nunez doubled to lead off the inning. Lyle Overbay followed with his 13th homer of the year.

The Tigers continued to pound Yankee pitching in the sixth. With one out, Jose Iglesias singled and Jackson followed with a walk. Hunter would put the game totally out of reach with his 13th homer of the year.

Overbay would get his third RBI in the bottom of the ninth to conclude the scoring.
