If you’re David Phelps, you take what happened last night and just throw it away. It’s the kind of performance that wrecks your season numbers, however, you can’t focus on that. The Orioles got to Phelps early and often, as the Orioles crushed the Yankees last night 11-3.

After Phelps got the leadoff hitter in the first, the Orioles broke out. Manny Machado, Nick Markakis and Adam Jones each singled to make it 1-0. Chris Davis made it 4-0 when he hit his 29th homer of the year. They added to it in the third with one out. Two walks and a single loaded the bases. Ex-Yankee Chris Dickerson singled home two runs. Ryan Flaherty then hit his sixth homer of the year to knock out Phelps.

The Yankees put together a little rally in the sixth. Two walks and a single loaded the bases. Zoilo Almonte drove a run in with a sac fly. David Adams walked to re-load the bases. Davis booted Lyle Overbay‘s groundball which brought home another run. Travis Hafner hit a flyball to the wall to end the inning.

Davis then added to his MVP in the bottom half, blasting his 30th homer of the year. The Yankees got another run in the ninth on back to back doubles by Chris Stewart and Brett Gardner.
