Just because the Yankees are rained out tonight (they will play a day/night doubleheader at 1pm and 7pm tomorrow) doesn’t mean there is a ton going on with the club. Let’s take a look at what’s been going on with the club over the past 48 hours.

Injuries: Stop me if you seen this before. More injury news today. Mark Teixeira has been placed back on the DL due to the inflammation in his wrist. Adam Warren was recalled to take his spot. The team also DFA’d Chris Bootcheck and added Zoilo Almonte to the roster. Kevin Youkilis will need back surgery and will miss 10-12 weeks (aka the rest of the regular season). Curtis Granderson will have the pin removed from his hand tomorrow and then pick up a bat next week.

Clarkin signs: The Yankees have now signed two of their three first round picks with a deal for pitcher Ian Clarkin. He signed a $1.651 million deal with the Yankees, pending a physical. Only outfielder Aaron Judge hasn’t signed with the club.

Pineda Update: Michael Pineda will be making his next start for Class A Tampa on Thursday. Pineda could be a secret weapon for the Yankees down the stretch, as no team could potentially acquire an arm as good as Pineda’s and add it to the rotation (unless someone like Cliff Lee becomes available). Pineda is about halfway through his rehab assignment and the Yankees will have to decide whether to call him up or option him to AAA.

Tomorrow’s Pitchers: Hiroki Kuroda will pitch the day game, while Phil Hughes will pitch the nightcap.
