The thing we talked about with the Yankees was waiting until the reinforcements return. Well, Curtis Granderson and Kevin Youkilis are back on the DL and Mark Teixeira may be joining them back on the DL. Teixeira left the game in the fourth after re-injuring his right wrist and will fly to New York to have it examined tomorrow. Oh yeah, the Yankees lost to the Angels again 6-2.

The Angels got the scoring going in the bottom the second when Erick Aybar hit a laser to right field for his second homer of the year, off David Phelps to give the Angels a 1-0 lead. The Yankees countered with their lone two runs in the second. With two out, Chris Stewart singled. Brett Gardner followed with a triple high off the right field fence to drive home Stewart. Jayson Nix followed with a rocket to left to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead.

The Angels tied it right back up in the bottom half. With one out, Mike Trout walked, stole second, went to third on a groundout and scored on Albert Pujols‘ RBI single.  The game remained tied until the sixth, when Aybar drove in Mark Trumbo with an RBI single.

The Angels put it out of reach in the seventh. Peter Bourjos led off with a walk which knocked out Phelps. In came Shawn Kelley who wasn’t able to provide relief. Trout walked. Josh Hamilton doubled in Bourjos. Pujols was intentionally walked to load the bases. Two batters later, Howie Kendrick walked to make it 5-2. Pujols drove in another run in the eighth to make it 6-2.

The Yankees will try to salvage a game on Father’s Day tomorrow in a battle of aces. CC Sabathia will face Jered Weaver at 3:35.

Notes: Alex Rodriguez ran the bases today in his rehab. Francisco Cervelli got the pin out of his hand but can’t grip a ball yet. Curtis Granderson will see the doctor next week to see if he can get the pin out of his hand.
