New York Yankees News & Notes 4/12: Injuries, Rotation, Minors

With the Yankees being off for the past 48 hours, and the possibility that the Yankees could get rained out AGAIN today (gotta love April weather), I figured it would be a good idea to take a look at some news and notes and a look down on the farm.

Injury Update: Derek Jeter is continuing on his rehab process by taking batting practice, running and fielding. He was off Thursday, but will resume rehab Friday. Curtis Granderson began to throw and will soon begin swinging a bat. Mark Teixeira is getting his wrist looked at again today, one day after his 33rd birthday to boot, and if all goes well, can resume swinging a fungo bat.

For The Birds: Phil Hughes and Ivan Nova will be skipped until their turns against the Diamondbacks, so CC Sabathia, Hiroki Kuroda and Andy Pettitte will face the Orioles this weekend.

On the Farm: The minor-league season is underway as well. Scranton Wilkes-Barre is off to a 1-5 start. Thomas Neal has seven RBI in the first six game. Ryan Pope has won the lone game out of the bullpen. The Trenton Thunder are off to a 4-3 start. Tyler Austin is struggling, hitting just .194 so far. Tampa is 3-4 so far. Gary Sanchez is hitting .367 with four RBI. Ben Gamel is hitting .393 with six RBI.

The Yanks return home to face the Orioles at 7:05. Sabathia will take on Miguel Gonzalez.
