The Yankees news just keeps going from bad to worse. Mark Teixeira is out 8-10 weeks with a strained ECU tendon in his right wrist he suffered hitting off of a tee while working out for team USA. He joins Curtis Granderson who’s out until May and Alex Rodriguez who is out til at least July.

This is now an offense of Robinson Cano, Derek Jeter and a cast of thousands. Dan Johnson may be the opening day first baseman at this point. Travis Hafner won’t be able to play first base.

This is a huge blow to the team, don’t think otherwise. Also, please do not blame this on the WBC. He was hitting off a tee. This could have happened if he was in Florida.

What do the Yankees do? Well, they could go and sign Carlos Lee to play first for a while if they want. They could try and claim a person or two who are out of options around baseball. Kevin Youkilis could play first and Jayson Nix could play third. They have to go and get at least one or two people at this point.

The move won’t happen soon. Don’t expect anything for another couple of weeks. They Yankees may wait out teams with players who don’t have options left.
