Breaking News: New York Yankees Mark Teixeira Out Of WBC WIth Injury

Well, the New York Yankees got some more injury news and it didn’t even happen at their own camp. Mark Teixeira is out of the World Baseball Classic for Team USA.

Teixeira is out seven to ten days with a strained right wrist. He hurt it taking batting practice on Tuesday. Joe Girardi said x-rays are negative but more tests are planned. He has already left Team USA and they are looking for his replacement.

For the Yankees, it’s a very good think that the injury isn’t more serious. The Yankees already have a ton of injured players on the roster to begin with and they can’t afford to take on any more injuries at this point. Him being out a week to ten days is not the worst thing in the world. It’s better for the Yankees to get all of these injuries out of the way now.

For team USA, they’ll figure out a way to replace him in one fashion or another. Whether it’s adding Buster Posey or Allen Craig or someone like that they will figure it out.

I’m sure the Yankees aren’t happy that Teixeira is hurt, but at the same time, they are secretly happy that he’s coming back to Yankees camp. At least this injury shouldn’t effect him moving forward.
