As we start a new week, a week that will end with the first spring training games of the season, (yes!), let’s take a look at some of the news and notes around Yankees camp. Here is your Harlem Shake free addition of news and notes.

At Shortstop: While Derek Jeter is rehabbing his way back from his injury, the Yankees will have a different look at shortstop. Jayson Nix and Eduardo Nunez will be the main guys at short with Corban Joseph as a sleeper candidate. The Yankees first full squad workout is today, and in Nunez’s first 10 chances he made two errors. Nunez is going to be a part of this team this year, and is going to get some time at short and third and DH. The Yankees may have to live with his defense unless maybe a trade opens up.

Only DH: When Mark Teixeira needs a day off this season, Travis Hafner won’t be the guy taking his spot. He hasn’t played a game at first base since 2007. When manager Joe Girardi was asked about Hafner he said DH. Hafner is going to fill Raul Ibanez‘s shoes as the DH against right-handed pitching.

Tex Taking It Easy: Mark Teixeira said he’s not going to push himself as hard with the WBC upcoming. As we all know, Tex gets off to slow starts and he changed his off-season workout routine, which he thinks may help avoid it. We’ll see if it does, though it would help team USA if he hits like he does in in June rather than April.
