Outside the Bronx is a weekly bullet-point style notebook covering each MLB team outside of Yankee Stadium. Each team’s record is in parenthesis prior to today’s games.

AL East

Baltimore Orioles (20-12) – Led off 1st game of double-header with 3 straight homers, allowed 4 straight to Josh Hamilton earlier in week.

Boston Red Sox (12-19) – Josh Beckett golfs with sore lat muscle says, “I do what I want on my off day.” NICE!

Tampa Bay Rays (20-12) – Figured out the Great Houdini’s trick.

Toronto Blue Jays (18-14) – Sign Vladimir Guerrero to minor league deal.

AL Central

Chicago White Sox (15-17) – Adam Dunn has 10 home runs this season (136 PA). He had 11 all of last season (490 PA).

Cleveland Indians (18-13) – 10-3 on the road, 8-10 at home.

Detroit Tigers (16-15) – Austin Jackson quietly having a nice season; .322, 4 HR, 5 SB, 22 R, .899 OPS.

Kansas City Royals (11-19) – Jeff Francoeur has yet to homer in 120 plate appearances.

Minnesota Twins (8-23) – Josh Willingham signing about the only thing going right; .313 AVG, 7 HR, 18 RBI, 1.067 OPS

AL West

Los Angeles Angels (14-18) – Albert Pujols‘ homerless drought ends at 110 AB, new streak at 14 AB.

Oakland A’s (16-16) – Brandon Inge has 3 HRs and 12 RBIs in last four games.

Seattle Mariners (15-17) – Jesus Montero back in Yankee Stadium this weekend wearing the opposing uniform.

Texas Rangers (21-11) – Josh Hamilton! Josh Hamilton! Josh Hamilton! Josh Hamilton!

NL East

Atlanta Braves (19-13) – 1/2 game out despite little production from Brian McCann and Chipper Jones.

Miami Marlins (16-15) – Ozzie Guillen has the team playing as expected, winners in 8 of last 10.

New York Mets (18-13) – They come out each night and play hard, so far it is paying off.

Philadelphia Phillies (14-18) – Missing Ryan Howard and Chase Utley, but the bullpen is making things worse.

Washington Nationals (19-12) – Has anyone seen this Stephen Strasburg kid? He can chuck!

NL Central

Chicago Cubs (13-18) – Carlos Marmol out as closer…again.

Cincinnati Reds (16-14) – Winners in 7 of last 10, trying to keep up with Cardinals.

Houston Astros (14-17) – Had gotten to one game under .500 after 5-game win streak, 1-3 since.

Milwaukee Brewers (13-18) – Doug Melvin promoted to President of Baseball Operations and extended through 2015.

Pittsburgh Pirates (14-17) – Andrew McCutchen finding power stroke.

St. Louis Cardinals (20-11) – Finish off first sweep of season against the Diamondbacks after previous four tries.

NL West

Arizona Diamonbacks (14-18) – Losers of five straight, back home to play Giants.

Colorado Rockies (13-17) – Is 49 year old Jamie Moyer their best starter?

Los Angeles Dodgers (20-11) – Finishing nine games over .500 could win this division.

San Diego Padres (11-21) – Team has the same numer of home runs as Matt Kemp (12).

San Francisco Giants (15-16) – If Tim Lincecum can figure his problems out, Giants have very nice top three (Matt CainMadison Bumgarner).
