It’s no secret that Derek Jeter‘s trophy room is overflowing by this point in his career, and his list of honors just keeps getting longer. In addition to being named one of Barbara Walters Most Fascinating People of 2011, Jeter has also been listed as one of the Top-10 Favorite Athlete-Philanthropists. This is an honor I’m sure Jeter is very proud of, given his dedication to his family-run Turn 2 Foundation. Since the creation of the Turn 2 Foundation in 1996, the charity has expanded to include programs in New York City, Kalamazoo, and Tampa. Turn 2’s primary mission is to promote healthy lifestyles by educating young people about the dangers of drugs and alcohol, and the programs include everything from baseball clinics to scholarships to holiday events for needy children.

Jeter even hosts a celebrity golf tournament each year to benefit Turn 2, and if you are free the week of January 18-20 and have an extra $30,000 laying around, you and 3 of your closest friends can participate in the tournament. But if you don’t have that kind of disposable cash (or you’re just not that into golf), don’t worry – you can find other ways of helping out with Turn 2 on the website.
