Deja vu all over again in Toronto

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: an over-the-hill starting pitcher gave up a shitload of runs the Yankee offense couldn’t overcome.

Fab Fred got lit up over five innings while the D committed two errors, and the offense was impotent. 2-for-9 with RISP and eight men left on base. They managed just seven hits, none of which went for extra bases. Yuck. There’s not enough lipstick in the world that can cover this pig, so let us never speak of this 7-1 shit show again. At least the Red Cox lost too, so they’ll remain 1 1/2 games back.

Thank God the Yanks have CC going tomorrow (during a day game nevertheless). Big Stoppa will face off against Ricky Romero at 1:05 in the penultimate game of this set.

Other News:

If So comes through batting practice on Saturday in Tampa he will pitch in a minor league game on Tuesday, according to Girardi. After that, the team would want him to work in back-to-back games in the minors before returning. However, Girardi said need could prevent that from happening.

The Yanks have said that Colon is not injured and is set to make his next start in Tampa on Tuesday. Rothschild said — not in these words — that Colon needs to get over being a bitch on the mound and stop worrying about the hamstring when he goes to field a ball.

The Yanks are one of many teams who could get Ubaldo Jimenez from the Rockies. The article says that they’d have to give up Jesus Montero and at least one of the Killer B’s though. Baldy is apparently pissed off that Tulo and CarGo got contract extensions and he didn’t, and the Rox have sent scouts to check out NYY prospects recently. The Yanks obviously need starting pitching, but I’m not sure how I feel about NL West pitchers coming over the AL East.
