Kevin Long works his magic…again + Pettitte news

After working with hitting coach Kevin Long on a transformation of his swing on Wednesday, Curtis Granderson went 2-for-3 with a double, walk and an RBI in Thursday’s 4-3 win over the Royals.

Obviously one game is a VERY small sample size, so we don’t know if this is a new Grandy or what. But I’ll take it as opposed to the 3-for-29 stretch he was mired in. Also, it could just be a case of facing Bruce Chen and the Royals. However, I choose to play the optimist here and believe the Grandy man can.

Another bright side for C-Grizzle is that he owns tonight’s starter for the Royals, Kyle Davies. Curtis is 6-for-18 with two homers, five walks and five RBI against Davies. So we should see another offensive eruption from our man tonight. He’s hitting second in the lineup tonight.

In shittier news, it appears that Pettitte’s simulated game didn’t go as well as planned and his next rehab start has been canceled. He is set to rejoin the team on Saturday to be examined. He said he couldn’t throw at more than 75% and Girardi is less-than-thrilled.

There is no timetable for Pettitte’s next rehab start.
