Yanks Go Yard goes soothsaying

As promised yesterday, here are my predictions for the second half.

First off, here is how I think the divisions will play out:

AL East:

  1. Yankees 102-60
  2. *Red Cox 3 GB
  3. Rays 5 GB
  4. Blue Jays 17 GB
  5. Orioles 24 GB

AL Central:

  1. Twinkies 92-70
  2. Tigers 1 GB
  3. ChiSox 3 GB
  4. Royals 18 GB
  5. Indians 26 GB

AL West:

  1. Rangers 94-68
  2. Angels 5 GB
  3. A’s 16 GB
  4. M’s 20 GB

NL East:

  1. Bravos 96-66
  2. *Phils 2 GB
  3. Metropolitans 4 GB
  4. Fish 14 GB
  5. Nats 19 GB

NL Central:

  1. Cards 90-72
  2. Reds 3 GB
  3. Cubbies 9 GB
  4. Brew Crew 12 GB
  5. ‘Stros 23 GB
  6. Bucs 27 GB

NL West:

  1. Dodgers 91-71 (Win one-game playoff, 5-3, against SD)
  2. Padres 91-71
  3. Rockies 3 GB
  4. Fake G-Men 7 GB
  5. D’Bags 28 GB

Next, this is how the postseason will go:

ALDS:

  • Yanks over Twinkies, 3-1
  • Rangers over Red Cox, 3-2

NLDS:

  • Bravos over Cards, 3-0
  • Dodgers over Philly (phinally), 3-2

ALCS:

  • Yanks over Rangers, 4-1

NLCS:

  • Bravos over Dodgers, 4-2 (Sorry, Torre)

World Series:

  • With shades of 1996 the New York Yankees edge the Atlanta Braves four games to two, spoiling Bobby Cox’ final season with No. 28.

As you can see, my preseason predictions were a bit off. However, if these mid-season picks hold true (I have no reason to believe they won’t), I will have guessed seven of eight playoff teams correctly. Ain’t no shame in that.

The Yanks are off ’til Friday, when they open a three-game set against the Rays. I’ll be at the Stadium on Sunday trying to improve my record to 4-0, then again on Wednesday to see Godzilla and the Halos.

LET’S GO YANKS!!!!!!
