Jasson Dominguez's New Year IG post should get Yankees fans hyped for comeback

Ain't no stopping him (soon).

Yankees phenom Jasson Dominguez won't be ready for Opening Day, but that hasn't slowed down the hype train significantly.

The well-monikered Martian showed up somewhat unexpectedly last September, drilling a home run to the Crawford Boxes in Houston in his first career at-bat, then collecting three more and a double, good for a .980 OPS in his first 31 at-bats.

Unfortunately, his uncoiling swing was cruelly ripped away just as hope was cresting; a torn UCL will take Dominguez out until midway through next season. But how, uh, soon is that "midway" coming exactly?

Last we'd heard from Aaron Boone, Dominguez's recovery was going swimmingly, and the center fielder would be returning "sooner rather than later" to the Yankees' lineup. While Dominguez's absence may have been nicely patched over by the addition of Juan Soto, the sooner the phenom can return and get Aaron Judge off his feet in center, the better. To add fuel to 2024's fire, Dominguez himself stuck his hand up and posted on Instagram to remind folks that his considerable talent lurks just around the corner, too.

Dominguez's post (viewed here) makes it clear that, while a surgical setback isn't what anyone wished for during his sterling debut, he has a dedicated interest in making 2024 extremely special, and isn't planning for a slow ramp-up.

Also, shoutout to Yankees prospect Ben Rice for being the singular named "like" on display in the tweet above. THAT'S my future heart of the order right there.

No word yet on whether or not Dominguez will need a minor-league ramp up to get reacclimatized to game speed (he likely will, judging by this franchise's usual level of caution). Given that baked-in downtime, it feels like the immediate estimate of "July" feels right, though an otherworldly physical freak like Dominguez might just take that as a personal challenge.

Here's to hoping for a setback-free 2024 and a quick return to orbit.
