Yankees: 4 Bold Predictions for the 2020 Season
By Jerry Trotta
3. Giancarlo Stanton Finally Lives Up to His Contract
While he certainly hasn’t done himself any favors, Giancarlo Stanton hasn’t caught a break since being traded to the New York Yankees during the 2017 offseason, either. To make matters worse, he sent teammate Masahiro Tanaka to the hospital over the weekend after ripping a line drive off his forehead during live batting practice.
The numbers will tell you that Stanton enjoyed a solid debut season with New York in 2018, but he was genuinely disappointing in October, when things obviously matter most. Desperate to win back the hearts of fans in the Bronx, Stanton couldn’t get over the injury bug last year as he was limited to just 18 games.
Giancarlo Stanton seems ready to mash for the Yankees in 2020.
The upcoming campaign could be a make or break for Stanton in terms of his standing as a Yankee, and we have a gut feeling that the former NL MVP will be everything the club thought he’d be when they acquired him and his ridiculous contract from the Miami Marlins. The Pinstripe faithful have likely lost all confidence in Stanton, but mark our words, 2020 will be a different story.
