Perhaps the younger Kyle Higashioka will see more playing time in 2018. For these reasons, I imagine the Yankees trading Austin Romine by the end of the season, mainly because his salary stands around half a million dollars more than Higashioka and is two years older.

But I could also imagine Higashioka packing his bags, not having much experience in the majors, to go along with his age and low salary. The Yanks could use Higashioka to add trade value to a salary dump player such as Ellsbury, similar to the Chase Headley-Bryan Mitchell trade.

With a left arm nearing its expiration date in C.C. Sabathia, who is within the top 100 pitchers in career innings pitched, and past shaky performances from all other parts of the rotation alike, you would think all the Yankees’ starters are up for grabs.

But that’s not the case. Each of the five starters has value of some sort as a member of Yankees.

Sabathia, entering his 10th season with the Yankees, has seen his fan base in New York only grow. As well as his loving devotees, the Yankees will forever be in debt to C.C., who without, the Yankees might not be the rightful owners of the 2009 World Series trophy.
