Prediction
Thanks to our friends over at Knoda.com, we here at Yanks Go Yard get the ability to document our predictions. During the previous series, I called for a sweep by the Yankees over the Red Sox, and that was ended as early as the third inning of the opening game. The Yankees did win 2 of 3 though, and as I have stated in earlier work, the Yankees need to win 17 games in September if they are going to see October.

Series wins against the likes of playoff-bound teams like the Royals go a long way towards building the Yankees’ confidence, and of course helps them gain ground on the teams in front of them in the Wild Card race. Depending on how McCarthy and Greene pitch this weekend, will dictate how the Yankees handle this weekend’s series. Although the Royals have a lockdown bullpen too, led by Greg Holland, the Yankees get the edge in my book. If McCarthy and Greene can bounce back and each have a quality start, the Yankees could very well sweep the Royals at home. I feel they will bang James Shields out inside of six innings. My prediction for the series? My call, my like my cohort Ricky Keeler at Yanks Go Yard Radio, is that the Yankees win two of three this weekend. The one loss? Shane Greene gets pummeled, as big league hitters may have finally made the adjustments and figured him out.
