DOUBLE A
Trenton Thunder (61-70) defeated the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (63-67) 3-0.
The Thunder pulled out a rare victory Thursday night and it was on the shoulders of the red hot Jaron Long. Long came in and had a spectacular outing to finally end the Thunder’s five game losing streak. Long went eight innings allowing just four hits, while walking one and striking out seven. Long is a remarkable 6-1 with a 2.54 ERA since his promotion to Double-A. James Pazos came on for a scoreless ninth, striking out one, to gain his sixth save of the season.
Designated hitter Rob Segedin had a huge night. Segedin went 3-for-4 on the evening, including a triple and his 45th RBI of the season. First baseman Greg Bird, who has returned to earth after winning the Eastern League Player of the Week Award when he was promoted, had a 2-for-4 night with two doubles. Third baseman Dante Bichette, Jr. crept out of his slump with a 2-for-4 evening driving in his second run since his promotion. Jeremy Bleich takes the hill Friday night. First pitch is 7:00 PM.
