DOUBLE-A

Trenton Thunder (60-66) lose to Bowie Baysox (62-63) 7-4

Trenton wasn’t able to maintain the lead, as their pitching spiraled out of control, and they lost the opening series against Bowie. The Thunder scored one run at the top of the second inning, but then the Baysox struck back and scored three in the bottom half. Trenton went on to score once in the fifth and twice in the seventh, giving them a 4-3 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth. Bowie was able to open the flood gates, and scored four runs in the bottom of the ninth to secure the win.

Starting pitcher Jaron Long didn’t have too bad of an outing, as he kept the Thunder in the game. Long worked for six innings, giving up three runs on eight hits. Nick Goody took the lost, as he came in relief and pitched 0.2 innings. In that short outing, he gave up those four runs that were the game winner. Gary Sanchez had a good night at the plate, as he went 2-for-4, and had 2 RBI.

Trenton is looking to bounce back, as they begin the second game of the series at 6:35 PM. The starting pitcher is to still be determined.
