Blue Jays bury Hughes; Yankees unable to dig all the way out in 10-7 loss

The New York Yankees saw their four-game win streak snapped yesterday afternoon as Phil Hughes suffered through his second poor start in a row. The Toronto Blue Jays ripped Hughes to the tune of seven runs in four innings dropping his record to 11-10 and raising his ERA to 4.44. The Yankees mounted a spirited comeback but it fell short in the 10-7 loss. (more…)

The New York Yankees made quick work of denying New York Mets starter Johan Santana’s bid for a duplicate effort of last Friday’s no-hitter. Robinson Cano hit two, two-run homers, including the first of three in a row. Hiroki Kuroda was again fantastic, flirting with a no-no of his own as the Yankees blasted the Mets 9-1 in the first game of the Subway Series. (more…)

In New York Yankees news off the field, we learned that Mark Teixeira finally received a diagnosis and plan to quell his persistent cough. Teixeira has been plagued by a terrible cough since mid-April which at times was depleting his energy. (more…)
