With the season opening tonight* — although technically not until Friday for Yankee fans — we here at Yanks Go Yard decided to put together our predictions for the season. Feel free to leave your own predictions and/or tell us how dumb we are in the comments section.

*Yes, I know the M’s and A’s played a couple of games last week, but they don’t count seeing as how they were not televised live. Off-the-topic rant: Having Opening Day overseas is the dumbest thing MLB ever did; the fans have to wake up early to watch the games and, as I bitched about before, they weren’t even on TV (live). Stupid.

Without further ado, here is how the 2012 MLB season will play out:

Andrew Corselli’s Picks:

AL East: Yanks

AL Central: Tigers

AL West: Angels

AL Wild Cards: Rays, Rangers

NL East: Bravos

NL Central: Reds

NL West: Fake G-Men

NL Wild Cards: Phils, Marlins (It was tough leaving the Nats off the WC list. I think they make a big run this season. Now that I’ve put that in writing they will finish 30 games under .500)

ALCS: Yanks over Tigers

AL MVP: Albert Pujols

AL Cy Young: Ervin Santana (Mark my words: Phil Hughes will get at least one vote for the Cy Young this year. I’m not saying he’s going to win, or even that he’s going to deserve it, but he will get at least one vote. I’m taking bets if you think I’m full of sh*t)

AL Rookie of the Year: Jesus Montero

NLCS: Fake G-Men over Bravos

NL MVP: Ike Davis

NL CY: Cole Hamels

NL ROY: Bryce Harper

WS: Yanks over Fake G-Men

WS MVP: Swish Dog

Ricky Keeler’s Picks:

AL East winner - New York Yankees

AL Central Winner - Detroit Tigers

AL West Winner - Texas Rangers

2 Wild Cards - Tampa Bay Rays and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim

ALCS - Tigers over Yankees

AL MVP - Miguel Cabrera – Detroit Tigers

AL Cy Young - Justin Verlander – Detroit Tigers

AL Rookie of the Year - Matt Moore – Tampa Bay Rays

NL East - Atlanta Braves

NL Central - St. Louis Cardinals

NL West - Arizona Diamondbacks

NL Wild Cards - San Francisco Giants and Philadelphia Phillies

NLCS - Phillies over Cardinals

World Series Winner - Detroit Tigers

WS MVP - Prince Fielder – Detroit Tigers

NL MVP - Justin Upton – Arizona Diamondbacks

NL Cy Young - Tommy Hanson – Atlanta Braves

NL Rookie of the Year - Bryce Harper – Washington Nationals

Matt Hunter’s Picks

AL East winner: New York Yankees, obviously

AL Central Winner: Detroit Tigers

AL West Winner: Texas Rangers

2 Wild Cards: Boston Red Sox, Tampa Bay Rays

ALCS: Yankees vs. Red Sox, Yankees win

AL MVP: Jose Bautista

AL Cy Young: CC Sabathia

AL Rookie of the Year: Matt Moore

NL East: Atlanta Braves

NL Central: Cincinnatti Reds

NL West: San Francisco Giants

NL Wild Cards: Philadelphia Phillies, Colorado Rockies

NLCS: Braves vs. Giants, Braves win

World Series Winner: Yankees (this isn’t bias, I really do think the Yankees are the best team in the majors this year)

WS MVP: Alex Rodriguez

NL MVP: Justin Upton

NL Cy Young: Zack Greinke

NL Rookie of the Year: Anthony Rizzo

Ran Shulman’s Picks

AL East – Yankees
AL Central – Tigers
AL West – Rangers
Wildcards – Rays and Angels
ALCS – Rays vs. Rangers
AL MVP – Adrian Gonzalez
AL Cy Young – Felix Hernandez
AL Rookie of the Year – Matt Moore

NL East – Marlins
NL Central – Cardinals
NL West – Giants
Wildcards – Braves and Reds
NLCS – Marlins and Cardinals
NL MVP – Joey Votto
NL Cy Young – Zack Greinke
NL Rookie of the Year – Drew Pomeranz

World Series – Rays over Cardinals
World Series MVP – David Price

By the way, for the awards, I put who I think should win (nothing more than an educated guess of course) rather than who the (usually) idiotic writers will vote for.
