If you don’t watch Breaking Bad, you’re doing something wrong (and probably won’t get this post). It is one of the best shows on television and could be the best show of all time. I’ve decided to take my love for it and combine that with my love of the Yankees.

The Yanks returned home after a 2-5 road trip to beat the Red Sox 10-3. Phil Hughes tossed a great game, but Curtis Granderson stole the show. Curt McGirt was 3-for-5 and his grand slam in the eighth all but sealed the deal. It was the fifth career grand slam for Curt, and his 28th longball of the season.

Brian Cashman Proves Yet Again That He’s A Ninja

When news broke around 6 p.m. (NY time) yesterday that the Yankees had acquired outfielder Ichiro Suzuki, the whole baseball world was left with mouths agape. Even the most die-hard Yankee fan couldn’t believe what he/she was hearing despite following the team’s every move on Twitter and other news outlets. There were no rumors or whispers prior to the trade; it just came out of nowhere. (more…)

Yankees Talk Trade For Outfielder, Foolish Move I Say

‘Round this time of year there are always trade rumors swirling, especially with the Yankees. Some trade talks are crazy, but a few do have some merit. One legit NYY rumor that we’ve heard over the past week is that the team is looking to upgrade its outfield and have had talks with the Phillies regarding Shane Victorino.

For the record, I don’t think the Yankees need to (nor should they) make any trades. The team is on fire, boasts a 10-game lead* in the division and has the best record in ball. Sure, Brett Gardner is not returning this year but the LF platoon has been absolutely raking and holding it down. Why give up prospects for a guy who would marginally (if that) make the team better? Frank Francisco Calls The Yankees “Chickens”

In one of the lamest showings of trash talk in the history of professional sports, Mets closer Frank Francisco called the Yankees “chickens” prior to this weekend’s Subway Series.

I can’t wait to face those chickens. I want to strike out the side against them. I’ve done it before.

Whoa. Take it easy, Gary Payton. My five-year-old nieces sling better insults than that. Frank Frank could’ve called the Yankees ‘big, stupid doo-doo heads’ and I would’ve had more respect for him. I have no problem with talking trash, but if you’re going to run your mouth at least make it a good jab.

Happy Father’s Day From Yanks Go Yard!

We here at Yanks Go Yard want to wish all of the dads out there a happy Father’s Day! Personally, I know that if it wasn’t for my dad I wouldn’t be a Yankee fan so I want to use this day to be grateful that he raised me right.

On a more serious note, there are a lot of people out there who don’t have the privilege of being able to see their old men, so, if you are able to, use this day to give your pops a hug and say thanks. Forget about that time he wouldn’t let you stay out past curfew or didn’t buy you a car when you got your license, remember all the things he HAS done for you.

On a less serious note, let’s give thanks to our father who art in heaven. Deliver us from evil (the Red Sox): (more…)

The Yanks completed a three-game sweep of the crosstown rival Mets thanks to a pair of home runs — including the walk-off dinger in the ninth — from Russell Martin. Since the start of the Royals series on May 21, Russ is hitting .302/.412/.558 (slash line not including today’s game) with four homers and 10 RBI.

Andy Pettitte (3-2) turned the table on the Rays. 7 1/3 innings, two hits, 10 K, 2 BB. The left-for-dead Yanks are now just 1/2 game out of first place in the American League East. Crikey!
