Playing Brian Cashman is always fun. I have a trade proposal along with a steal of a free agent signing that the Yankees should pursue. It’s not new information that the Yankees are trying to reduce payroll. That may be on hold, but we’ll assume that plan is still intact. At the end of the season the Yankees have a dilemma. They’ll have a few expiring contracts to deal with, specifically Cano and Granderson. I’m sure at least one of them will be re-signed. That will most likely be Robinson Cano. Granderson on the on the other hand might have an off-season similar to Nick Swisher if the Yankees don’t trade him.

What Are The Yankees Missing Without Brett Gardner?

Going into the All-Star break the Yankees sit atop the standings with the best record in baseball. They have done so despite enduring their fair share of key injuries. They have lost arguably the best closer of all-time in Mariano Rivera but were able to replace him with a proven closer in Rafael Soriano. The other major injury the team has endured is losing Brett Gardner for virtually the entire first-half. The Yankees have been able to replace a lot of Gardner’s productivity with Raul Ibanez and Andruw Jones but there is no way to replace all that Gardner does.

Yankees welcome Braves to Yankee Stadium for Interleague rematch

The New York Yankees are in the midst of a stretch not seen since 1998. They have swept three straight series continuing their dominance in Interleague play. A series sweep of the Atlanta Braves was dead in the middle of this string, and now the venue is Yankee Stadium in the Bronx for the rematch. (more…)

If you’ve followed the New York Yankees at all then you know that in the near future – maybe this season, in fact – the team needs to figure how to fill some of the positions in the outfield. As of right now, right fielder Nick Swisher‘s contract is expiring at the end of this season. Meanwhile, center fielder Curtis Granderson has a $13M club option ($2M buyout) for 2013. So what do the Yankees do?
