Yankees salvage finale, power past Angels 6-5

The New York Yankees used some of their might to overcome the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the series finale last night. Curtis Granderson and Robinson Cano homered in the third to give the Bombers a 5-1 lead, and the bullpen worked out of numerous jams late in the game to hold off the Angels. (more…)

The New York Yankees expected things to be tough in Anaheim, it always is, but this time around they’ve run into a buzzsaw. Both teams entered the series on their longest win streaks of the season, but only the Angels streak is intact. Behind a strong pitching performance from Dan Haren, and some great defensive plays by Mike Trout and Peter Bourjos, the Angels defeated the Yankees and Andy Pettitte, 5-1. (more…)

Collision Course: Yankees lose wild one to Angels on walk-off blast in ninth

The New York Yankees and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim entered the game on five-game and six-game respective win streaks. The collision course ended poorly for the Yankees. They couldn’t take full advantage of an injury to Angels’ starter Jered Weaver after he faced just three batters to begin last night’s ballgame. (more…)
