On Wednesday, the New York Yankees were able to salvage the sweep from the Baltimore Orioles with a dominating 12-3 victory. They got the bats going again, including the ninth career grand slam from Robinson Cano. Plus, the Bronx faithful got to see the return of Joba Chamberlain to the bullpen. The lead is still a comfortable six and a half games for the Yankees over the Orioles and the Tampa Bay Rays in the division. Now, the Bombers will look to go on a winning streak to finish off their nine-game homestand against a non-contender that is playing some of their best baseball of the season.

Well, the West Coast trip for the Yankees so far has been a bumpy road down Route 66. Over the course of the four games with the Oakland Athletics, the A’s were able to get the big hits late in games and found a way to come up with a huge four-game sweep of the Bronx Bombers. A lot of Yankee fans feel that this series personifies why this team will not win in October. With the injury to Nick Swisher on Saturday, does Brian Cashman now consider bringing in a small piece to help out the outfield at the trade deadline? Lee makes bid to come to the Yanks

The Yanks dropped Tuesday’s game 7-4 to the Mariners, but what did you expect with Cliff Lee on the mound?

Lee, who beat the Yanks twice in last year’s World Series (but still isn’t a WFC), shut the Yanks down for the most part. He tossed another complete game (his third in a row and fourth in five starts) and gave up just three earned runs on eight hits. On the bright side, Lee kind of sort of implied that he’d like to go to the Yanks either at the trade deadline or when he becomes a free agent:

I’ll like it too when and if you’re rocking the pinstripes, buddy.
