Usually when a team hits four home runs, they put themselves in a very good position to be victorious. The Yankees, the major league leaders in home runs, did exactly that raising their grand total to 142 long balls for the season. The Yanks (27-23) are looking to build on a 4-2 record on the nine-game road trip, while the Tigers (24-27) are returning home after a 4-6 road trip highlighted by a pair of three-game losing streaks with a three-game win streak in the middle. Collision Course: Yankees lose wild one to Angels on walk-off blast in ninth

Yankees gain sweep of A’s as Kuroda shines in 2-0 triumph

The New York Yankees, behind Hiroki Kuroda‘s eight shutout innings, swept the Oakland A’s and in the process won their season-high fifth straight game.
